Adventure Day Camp provides an exciting and diverse outdoor experience that will engage children throughout the summer! With each day comes a new opportunity for campers to discover the world around them through outdoor adventures. Caring and encouraging YMCA role models will lead campers through a variety of weekly activities. With new friends and challenges around every corner, Adventure Day Camp is the perfect way to keep children engaged and learning throughout the summer.

Adventure Day Camp is intentionally designed to provide campers with the opportunity to participate in a diverse set of activities each week. Utilizing local resources in and around the greater La Crosse area, our professional role models facilitate trips to local parks, state parks and other community partners.

Canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, fishing, team building, group games and outdoor education are the mainstay activities that campers can look forward to every week.

Ages: 7-12 YEARS OLD
Program Dates: June 8 to August 14 (Weekly Registration Available)
Hours: 7:00am-5:30pm
Location: Houser YMCA, Miracle Field Pavilion

Daily Agenda:

A general day in the Day Camp program will consist of the following activities. Please note that times will fluctuate based on field trip location.

7-8:30 am Campers arrive at drop-off locations
8:00 am Breakfast
8:30 am Bus leaves drop-off locations for the day
9:15 am-3 pm Programming at the daily site location
3-4:00 pm Bus departs back to YMCA pick-up locations
3:30-4:30 pm Afternoon snack
4:00-5:30 pm Campers are back at home locations & available for pick-up

Meals:

The Y will provide daily breakfast and afternoon snack.  Campers are responsible for bringing a sack lunch.

Outdoor activities happen 2-3 times a day as weather permits. Children are divided and grouped by age and interest to best meet the needs of all.

We are pleased to offer swimming lessons this summer to our Summer School Age participants as part of their day at the YMCA! Below you will find session and price information. Financial assistance is also available for swimming lessons, the discount will be applied at the time of registration. Registration for swim lessons will be available at Summer School Age Registration.

Each week, students will visit a YMCA branch for one of the two swim days. Students who opt-in for lessons would spend 40 minutes in their lessons and then have the rest of the time to enjoy open swim. Since all lessons take place in conjunction with the normal swim day, there is no need for additional transportation.

Enjoy summer with the YMCA! There is something for everyone in our Summer School Age Program including swimming, weekly field trips, arts & crafts, S.T.E.M. activities, reading and learning challenges. Your child will build relationships with our caring and nurturing staff as well as create lifelong memories with their peers. We offer the highest quality of youth programming by combining state licensing and Youngstar requirements while carrying out the Y Mission.

HOW TO REGISTER

Current families (families registered for School Year 2019/2020 or were in Summer 2019) – Saturday, March 14, Placeholder Registration will start at 8:00 am online or via phone 8:00 am-10:00 am.

THINGS TO KNOW

Hours: 6:15am-6:00pm

Swimming days: Tuesday and Thursday

Field Trip day: Wednesday (except week 10 – all sites field trips are Friday, August 7)

Breakfast and afternoon snack provided.  Students must bring a sack lunch, that doesn’t require refrigeration or heating, each day.

Outdoor activities happen 2-3 times a day as weather permits. Children are divided and grouped by age and interest to best meet the needs of all.

We provide sunscreen (NO-AD 30SPF) for your child(ren).

A general day in the Summer School Age program consists of the following activities:

6:15-8:00am Child arrival-choice activities

8:00-9:00am Healthy breakfast

9:00-11:30am Morning activities, team building, group physical activities and small group arts & humanities or S.T.E.M. activities

11:30am-12:30pm Lunch

12:30-3:30pm Afternoon activities – Swimming (2 days), field trip (1 day), group physical activities or small group interest centers

3:30-4pm Healthy Snack

4-6pm Choice Activities-Child Pick Up
